Such materials play an increasingly important role due to their reduced thermal conductivity and high mechanical strength. Porosities typically range from 80 up to 98% with pore sizes between tenths of microns up to several milimeters.
de Cavis' main focus is on porous ceramic materials due to their excellent heat and corrosion resistance which makes them suitable for operation temperatures above 1600°C. Due to the absence of ceramic fibers, these materials are non-carcinogenic and can be handled without risk.
